Recovery in embryonated chicken eggs of viable but non-culturable Salmonella

چکیده
Salmonella paratyphi B and Salmonella typhimurium were starved in seawater microcosms respectively for 12 and 6 years. After starvation periods, major part of water was evaporated in each microcosm and salt crystals appeared. No culturable cells were obtained in selective and non-selective media. Salty suspension of each microcosm was inoculated in the yolk sacs of embryonated chicken eggs. Culturable cells were detected in a large

Avirulent viable but non culturable cells of Listeria monocytogenes need the presence of an embryo to be recovered in egg yolk and regain virulence after recovery.
The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of the embryonated egg model to recover Viable But Non Culturable (VBNC) cells of Listeria monocytogenes. L. monocytogenes cells were incubated in filtered sterilised distilled water. The VBNC state was obtained after a 25 to 47 days incubation period (concentration of culturable cells less than 1 cfu/mL). Fifteen days after the VBNC state was ...
متن کاملRecovery in embryonated eggs of viable but nonculturable Campylobacter jejuni cells and maintenance of ability to adhere to HeLa cells after resuscitation.
The existence of a viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state has been described for Campylobacter jejuni as it had been for a number pathogenic bacteria. Three C. jejuni human isolates were suspended in surface water and subsequently entered the VBNC state. After starvation for 30 days, VBNC cells were inoculated in the yolk sacs of embryonated eggs. Culturable cells were detected in a large propor...

متن کاملThe effect of florfenicol egg-injection on embryonated chicken egg
Pathogens are an important and significant hazard for human and animal health. In recent years, antibiotics are used to treat different types of infection caused by bacterial agents. In veterinary medicine, antibiotics injected into hatching eggs to eliminate pathogens and prevention of egg transmission of disease, but the adverse effects of drugs have always been a major conc...
